ISLAMABAD, Aug 12 (APP):The Principal of Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) I-8/4 Prof Shagufta Awais on Monday said that Independence is truly no lesser than a great blessing.
Talking to the students at an event held in commemoration of Independence Day, she said, “we can freely feel a sense of independence and freedom while breathing under the fresh air”.
“We all stand protected because of this independence. It was Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who fought the case of our country and by the blessings of Almighty Allah and with the great struggles and endeavours of our forefathers we got our separate country”, she added.
She further told the students that in the debilitating journey of 78 years, people suffered many strokes, various conspiracies were hatched but history was made on 14th August 1947 and a separate free nation was formed.
“Now it is our duty to identify and stand against all of those odds to make our country strong and superior”, he maintained.
“We are facing numerous challenges like poverty, terrorism, unemployment, youth frustrations, resources mismanagement, and corruption. we have to work out against all of these challenges. Being guardians of freedom we are responsible for working for tomorrow. The hard tasks always require great sacrifices”, she added.
The students from both junior and senior sections, including morning and evening shifts, enthusiastically planted various trees.
The captains of three houses of I-8/4 college Fatima Jinnah, Noor Jahan and Razia Sultana respectively Nayab Zahra Hadia Malik Amna A Nasir along with other officials and faculty, worked hard for continuous one week to add more beauty to the college gardens and lawns and celebrated the independence day in such an elegant way.
